How to get your tax calculations

Our step by step guide to finding your tax calculation for when you apply for a mortgage

What is a tax calculation?

A tax calculation statement (SA302) is a document from HMRC that shows how much you earn.

It’s based on your Self Assessment tax return from the last financial year.

Do I need an SA302 to apply for a mortgage?

If you’re self employed you’ll need a tax calculation to prove your earnings when applying for a mortgage.

Some lenders will consider using the company accounts for Ltd company directors or partnerships.

Your tax calculation will help lenders decide if you can afford the mortgage you’re applying for and whether they’re happy to lend to you.

Where to find your tax calculation
